Educational News: S.4–S.6 Visual Arts Students Visit Poly Auction Hong Kong to Broaden Artistic Horizons

To enrich the learning experiences of our Visual Arts students and broaden their aesthetic horizons, a delegation of nearly 30 S.4-S.6 students recently visited Poly Auction Hong Kong for an immersive 1.5-hour guided educational tour.

Under the guidance of industry professionals, students were granted the unique opportunity to examine an array of fine artworks and luxury collectibles, including modern and contemporary art, Chinese paintings and calligraphy, fine ceramics, exquisite jewelry, and rare timepieces. Beyond gaining deep insights into the creative concepts and artistic trajectories behind each piece, students acquired first-hand knowledge regarding the operations of auction houses and the dynamics of the global art market.

Our students expressed great enthusiasm and shared insightful reflection on their experience:

  • Tiffany remarked, "The visit helped me appreciate Hong Kong's pivotal role as a global platform for art exchange. It substantially broadened my horizons and deepened my appreciation for fine art."

  • Sally noted, "Observing masterpieces across diverse eras and artistic styles provided rich inspiration and new perspectives for my upcoming School-based Assessment (SBA) artwork."

  • Flora added, "The detailed commentary allowed me to better comprehend the historical contexts and emotions embedded in each piece. Engaging with these artworks up close was truly an invaluable learning experience."

In addition to stimulating artistic inspiration, this experiential learning activity introduced students to the broader art ecosystem, inspiring several participants to explore potential career pathways within the art market and creative industries.

The School extends its heartfelt gratitude to Assistant Principal Ms. Leung, Po Leung Kuk Corporate Benevolence and Development Department, Director Mr. Yim, and Poly Auction Hong Kong for their generous support and meticulous organization in creating such an enriching learning experience for our students.
